Weekly Reflection #1
Changes in Education and Possible Conflicts
After the discussions we had on Zoom on January 16th, I began to think about the changing landscape of education and the obstacles we face while trying to implement those changes. Something that came up a lot through discussion in class and in my own thoughts was the element of university readiness. While constant changes to education are vital to developing critical thinking and creativity in students in a landscape that is constantly changing, I do think it needs to be balanced with making sure they are ready for whatever they choose to do post-graduation. The reality is that universities do still require certain ways of completing assignments and are more rigid in structure than what may be the more ideal form of education. If we do not expose students to those standards of writing/completing assignments I think it is unfairly setting them up for failure in a University setting. While I don’t know that those standards are necessarily the best way of practice, it is still the system that most universities operate under. With that being said, I do still think we need to change education to be a more inquiry based approach and find a way to balance it.

Creative Commons
We also looked at creative commons images in class and I had the chance to take a look through some of the offerings that exist. I think there is a great benefit to resources such as these and have used similar sites to find audio clips and video clips that can be used in projects. While I personally for this blog might mostly chose to use images I have taken to give it a more personal feel, it is great to know that should I need something in particular, there are places that they can be easily sourced. Below I have embedded a video about creative commons music that might also be helpful.
