Learning Pod Inquiry Project

GIS Tools in the Classroom

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a tool to analyze, gather, and manage real-world data on a map. This helps us visualize patterns and relationships in data and apply them to real-world scenarios. GIS skill sets can be applied in various industries, including urban and rural planning, transportation, infrastructure, engineering, environmental sciences, and resource management. Since GIS can be applied in numerous industries, it is a highly employable skill set, and it would be advantageous for students to explore it in high school.

What is your technology inquiry question?

How can using GIS tools in the classroom (social studies, geography, environmental sciences) help support students in developing a better understanding of social and physical geography?
