Weekly Reflection #8
Ed Tech Camps
The group I was in for Fridays Ed Tech conversations was focused on developing student skills. We chatted about literacy rates, bringing back presentations, and about teaching social skills. I think this relates back to a lot of what we are talking about in some of our other classes, including “psychology of adolescents”. I liked the Ed-Tech camp to some extent, but think that I would have liked it more in person. I struggled a little with the large number of us being in a zoom discussion. I think I would have contributed more in person or in a smaller group conversation.
Hearing what the other groups discussed gave me lots to think about. I thought the points about outdoor education were very interesting, and liked what they said about being intentional about what we are doing during outside time. I also think it is interesting that developing student skills in an intentional way was a common theme for some of the groups. There were ideas about teaching resilience, and about how the teaching and scaffolding of certain skills can help reduce anxiety by increasing preparedness.
