Digital Privacy

I found that the act of googling ourselves was interesting. I’ve never googled Uvic after my own name before and it definitely narrowed down the results and I found a lot more than I knew was out there. I found programs for performances I did in High School, and articles I wrote for the fine arts/ theatre department that I had forgotten about. I also found that I am listed in the annual reports for the Belfry Theatre due to being on their volunteer list.

While I did not find anything that I would not be fine with students or employers seeing, I think it is a good reminder to keep your online presence professional. As someone who also does theatre and other creative projects where you might want to have an online presence, I have been thinking a lot about finding that balance.
