Weekly Reflection #6

This week I went on the field trip to PSII and I really enjoyed getting to see the space. I could actually see myself working there and love the way they structure learning. It seems like they really are following the inquiry-based model in a way that other schools that say they are aren’t. I had been in the studio space before for theater-related things, so it was cool to see how much bigger the school was than I had thought.

I love the studio space. It’s great that despite the school being smaller in size it still puts such a focus on the arts. Someone I know comes in and teaches theatre there and from what he has said it seems like a great place to work. I also have friends that went there for school and you can definitely see the ways the school set them up for success in the way they approach work as an adult.

I can see myself wanting to work in that model, but do see some of the potential drawbacks to a system like that as well. It might be hard to make sure students are getting everything out of their education that they could, as well as it might be more difficult to do things that require more students all doing the same thing (like music and larger theatre performance).
