Weekly Reflection #4

Google Classroom

I have seen Google classroom be used during my time at link2practice at parkland school, and after playing around with it I think it could be a really good tool. One specific application idea that I really like for it is the ability to post discussion questions and have class time for students to answer them either collaboratively or individually. I like this format because it gives all the students the opportunity to submit answers (and have the conversation not only be dominated by a few voices. It also allows for the students to articulate their thoughts before verbal discussion. I could see myself using this in a novel study in an English class.

The main drawback I have seen for google classroom is the confidentiality issue. I can see how you would have to be careful when using the gradebook feature especially. There is also the concern that since it is on a device it is easier for students to use AI. That being said, I do still like it as a tool I think it just requires some trust building as a class and an understanding of expectations.

Google Notetaker

Maybe I’m missing some elements to it, but I think I was expecting more from this. To me it seems no better or worse that a notes app on a phone or just taking notes on google docs. The reminder feature does seem like it could be useful though. I think for me I am more of a written notes kind of person so I don’t personally see myself using this, but I could see how some people might like it. I looked at the other ones a bit too and I still just really prefer bullet journaling and a physical planner. To each their own though!
